Pro-Lifers: Should Abortion Be Illegal Even in Cases of Rape or the Mother's Health?

If yes, should those who get abortions after being raped or because their life is in danger(small percentages, but it still happens) be arrested?Pro-Lifers: Should Abortion Be Illegal Even in Cases of Rape or the Mother's Health?
No...abortion should be allowed for those things...I just really don't like it as a form of birth control...but it does keep women from having kids my tax dollars will have to pay for...The Breeze is a moron...Pro-Lifers: Should Abortion Be Illegal Even in Cases of Rape or the Mother's Health?
Abortion sucks. Its one of the most horrible, but unfortunately necessary things in this world.

I despise the concept of abortion and what it is, and would never be able to do it, but i would never judge someone who does it.

In both cases of health risks and rape, or whatever I do think it should always be the mothers choice.

However, I think that there needs to be different rules around it. For example, NO abortion after 12 weeks.

Adoption over abortion sounds good in theory but it doesnt seem to work all the time which is why theres so many kids without families.
Not the popular answer but here goes

Yes and no the doctor should be arrested.

There is a popular assumption that all raped women want to abort the resulting pregnancy.

Even if she does what did the baby do wrong?

Adoption, adoption, adoption.

Start removing the stigma of ';a lesser love'; in an adopted situation and the idea that the mother will for ever mourn giving up her child and start emphisizing the joy, priviligaes and positives of adoption and we would all be astounded at the rate abortion goes down.

Women abort because they are afraid to ';connect with'; and 'lose' an unwanted pregnancy. Or they are afraid to ever have to admit to family they had sex in the first place. Wow.

Again More emphasis on adoption.
If the mother's life is in medical danger, then it should NOT be illegal. Few pro lifers would think it should be.

Here is my ';issue'; with rape. It is more legal than moral. What would constitute rape? If a woman says she was raped, then police need to be brought in, and this crime investigated. Does the ';claim'; of rape when asked why she wants/needs an abortion itself constitute acceptance? Would someone have to get charged? Arrested?

It is perfect in the theoretical, but how can we practically apply such a law?

I am NOT trying to downplay or make light of a serious, disgusting crime. But would a woman say she was raped if it were the only way to get an abortion? I think some would.

BTW: For those concerned the govt telling a woman what she do with her body, there are age limits on smoking and drinking, and there is a bunch of substances which no person is legally allowed to take. So do not give me that crap!
i have problems with rape being an exception...

if you are banning abortions because it is a form of murder.. then what differance does it make if it was rape or not rape...

if it is not because it is a form of murder stay out of it...

honestly about the only reason i find acceptable for abortion knowing what i do about the awareness now of fetus' is if the mothers life is at stake...

one of the problems with having a rape exclusion is how do you define rape after all if she is willing to have an abortion she is prolly willing to lie about how she got pregnant

------------------------

ohh yeahh should she be arrested YES SHE BROKE THE LAW.. so should the doctor and anyone who assisted
When the mother's health is in danger, absolutely an abortion should be an option. There are actually mothers who go ahead with the pregnancy, and survive.

In instances of rape....it's alittle trickier.

You run the risk of people ';claiming'; rape, even though no rape happened.

Especially when the State offers free abortions to rape victims.

no

Although It takes a lot for me to say this in rape cases, because it isn't the baby's fault. Still, I would not put the woman through a pregnancy after she had been raped.

Mom's health is a no-brainer, of course it should be legal for that.

What I object to is using abortion as a birth control method. There are all kinds of other options out there. No need to kill a baby.
While I could never even start to appreciate what a rape victim feels, I don't see how rape changes the fundamental issue. That which you abort is either a ';life,'; or it is not a ';life.'; I think it is a life.
i think it's better to abort the child then to kill it when he or she is alive.so many young ladies and men kill innocent children everyday. so it should be the mother choice. that's my opinion. i don't want to upset my fellow yahoo-ans.
people who think abortion is ok for rape an incest, fall into the pro-choice category.

Just figured I'd point that out.

Oh and BTW making abortion illegal does not prevent abortions, it just prevents them from being reported.
It really bothers me when pro-lifers say no abortion under any circumstances. A rape is bad enough, why would you make the woman carry a baby she didn't want and why should a woman risk her life
Most definitely! Throw a ten year old in jail for life if she was raped by her brother or priest and opts for an abortion.
illegal even for rape. in case of the mother's health then no. ONLY FOR EXTREME EMERGENCIES.
The government should be allowed to totally control a woman's body, no matter what the circumstances.
