In what cases of anxiety are benzos typically prescribed for? The most severe cases? Or only cases with shor

t bursts of anxiety? I'm curious, as I suffer from anxiety and would like to know how these medicines are usually used (I'm already on antidepressants). In what cases of anxiety are benzos typically prescribed for? The most severe cases? Or only cases with shor
Everyone is case is individual.

You and your doctor decide what is best for you.

If the anxiety is not to severe, Benzos can be prescribed (prn), as needed. If you take them in this way it is more likely you will not build up a tolerance to them. They will keep working for a longer time. As long as you take them exactly as your doctor prescribes, things should go OK. If there is a problem, it is time to talk to your doctor. They are safe to take with antidepressants, they're unlikely to be prescribed for you - especially in the UK.

They basically stop working after a short time and you need more and more to make them effective.

It's usually if someone ends up having a panic attack before an operation, or if someone has just had a death in the close family. Then they cut you off before you know it!

In the USA they're slightly more relaxed. You might as well have a glass of wine, it's practically the same thing. They work in the same way in the brain, except they don't make you quite as hungover.
i think they can be prescribed for both cases. your doctor can prescribe you benzos with varying half life, like 6 hrs to 100 hrs something like that.

but i think you better stay away from benzos. they can leave you with long-term cognitive retardation. the link below suggest that you should not take them over a month. the drug is effective but dangerous.
